Casa Isolani, period residences Piazza Maggiore 1.0
Casa Isolani is a charming Bed & Breakfast at the first floor of no. 1 Via D’Azeglio: to be in Piazza Maggiore and at the same time in the lively heart of this long and very old street, that reaches Porta San Mamolo. The rooms, which belong to the Cavazza Isolani family (one of the oldest in Bologna) have been perfectly restored with traces of ancient frescoes and refined details. The street is traffic free, in the centre of the shopping district. The singer Lucio Dalla lived for many years at no. 15, where the Foundation in his name is situated. Piazza Grande: one of his most beautiful songs.
Palazzo del Comune room
Double room on the first floor of Casa Isolani in Via D’Azeglio, with a panoramic view of Piazza Maggiore, in the heart of Bologna. Also this residence is in a zone set apart from the common area. The architecture is new and functional, with a large double bed, writing desk, wardrobe and a bathroom over 5m square, with shower. From the window you can enjoy the view of Palazzo del Comune, the Town Hall, one of the most representative buildings of the city of Bologna, with a Gothic façade, designed by the architect Fieravante Fieravanti (1425-28). The oldest part of the structure, however, goes back to the late 13th century and consists of Palazzo d’Accursio. The upper floors were the residence of the senior consuls, members of the civic judiciary, while the loggia was used as a deposit for fodder (also known as Palace of the Fodder).
